👀. How to calculate the shuttering area of columns?
In the above article, we have already estimated the shuttering area of a column. Let us now calculate the plywood requirement for the shuttering work of 5 nos. of similar-sized columns.
Given data:
Shuttering area = 3.48m².
No. of columns = 5 nos.
Calculation:
As we know,
The size of one plywood = 4 ft. х 8 ft.
The area of one plywood
= [length х breadth]
= [4 ft. х 8 ft.]
= 32 sq. ft.
Converting the area in m².
= [32 х 0.092903]
= 2.973 m².
(As 1 sq. ft. = 0.092903 m².)
No. of plywood required
= [(shuttering area of one column х no. of columns) ÷ area of one plywood]
= [ (3.48m². х 5 nos.) ÷ 2.973m².]
= [17.4m². ÷ 2.973m².]
= 5.85nos.
By rounding off,
The no. of plywood required = 6nos.
