 1. What is concertina wire?


Concertina is a type of razor wire that is bundled in a spiral or coiled format. They have razor-sharp projections placed in the coils to create obstacles. 

They are installed in the upper layer of fencing in high-security areas. 


2. Why it is called concertina wire?



Concertina is a musical instrument played by stretching & squeezing the central bellows between the hands. 

The concertina wire looks similar to the instrument in shape, that can be stretched & compressed to the required degree.  


3. What is the purpose of the concertina wire?



Concertina coil is installed over the boundary fence to prevent the entry of trespassers. Its coil-like shape makes it impossible to jump over the fencing boundary.

They are mostly used in high & medium-security areas like military borders, aerodromes, chemical factories, prisons, power plants, sensitive institutions, etc.
