Different types of kitchen countertop nosing (molding)./Different types of kitchen countertop edge finishing.

Let us go through the different types of kitchen countertop edges with images.

1. Full bull nose or half-round edge:

As you can observe in the image, the countertop edge finish resembles the curvature of the bull nose. This is the most common pattern as this type of edge molding is easy, economical, & simple in appearance.

2. Half bull nose edge:

The half-bull nose has a slight curve at the upper edge of the countertop. The curve is continued with a straight bottom portion.

They provide a smooth passage for the surface water to flow without damaging the cabinets at the bottom.

3. Demi bull nose edge:

The curve is continued from the top to the bottom edge of the countertop, forming a quarter-round finishing. The bottom end is straight without any inward inclination.

4. Beveled flat edge:

The top edge of the countertop slopes down at a 45° angle & takes another 45° turn before creating a straight line at the bottom part.
This design is easy & simple to finish. The water spills over the floor without affecting the cabinet parts due to the straight bottom cut.

5. Double bevel edge:

The double bevel has a 45° cut at both the top & bottom end of the countertop. This type of finishing gives a stylish look when compared to the beveled flat edge.

6. Flat or straight edge:

The edge is straight with a little curve at the top to remove the sharpness of the countertop. As there are no grooves, it is easy to clean & maintain the edge surface.

7. Eased edge:

Eased edge is similar to the straight edge type of finishing. But here, the edge sharpness is blunted both at the top & bottom of the countertop.

8. Ogee edge:

Ogee edge has an S-shaped curvature for a stylish look in the kitchen. This type of design highlights the beauty & provides a royal look to the kitchen countertop.

9. Dupont edge:

The curvature starts after the straight 90° bend from the top surface. There is no chance for the accumulation of dust particles as the finishings are seamless.

10. Cove edge:

The cove edge has a grooved curvature, followed by a straight downward finish.

Although they look glamorous, the cove edge needs extra maintenance as the groove catches the spills.

11. Mitered edge:

Mitered edges are actually two pieces joined at the edges. The edge size can be customized as per the requirements. The mitered edge creates an illusion that the countertop is thicker than they usually are.

12. Waterfall edge:

The countertop edge resembles the cascading waterfall over the rock.

13. Rock face or chiseled edge:

The edge is exposed as an uneven surface of the raw stone. This provides a rustic & traditional look to the countertop.
The rough surface adds more effort to your maintenance & they may scratch your hands.
