When we draw on a sheet, we use a particular scale to represent the structure on the sheet.
For eg., we use a scale in the ratio of 1:50, 1:100, or 1:150, etc.
Now the question is, how to convert the actual measurement of the structural item to the required scale?
Example:
Let us consider a wall of length 6m. Convert this to a scale of 1:50, & 1:100 for drawing purposes.
Given data:
Length of the wall = 6m. = 6000mm.
The required scale is 1:50 or 1:100
Drawing length
= [ actual length in mm. or cm. × scale]
1. For 1:50 scale:
Drawing length
= [ 6000mm. × (1 ÷ 50)]
= 120 mm or 12cm.
2. For the 1:100 scale:
= [ 6000mm. × (1÷ 100)]
= 60 mm. or 6 cm.
Have a good day 😄.
