Let us calculate the cost of shuttering oil / sq m. of an area as below.
The coverage area of the shuttering oil depends upon the type of oil base, manufactured brand or company, type of formwork material, etc.
For the calculation purpose let us consider Sika release oil as shown below.
The coverage as specified by the company for different types of formwork materials are as below.
Price:
The market rate of oil is INR 120/- per liter.
Calculation:
Now, let us calculate the cost of oil /sq m. area of different types of formwork materials.
1. Steel formwork:
Coverage area = 50 -60 sq m. /liter.
Let us consider an average of 55 sq m. /liter.
Cost of release oil / sq m.
= [cost of oil /liter ÷ coverage area/liter]
= [ 120 ÷ 55]
= INR 2.18/- per sq m.
2. Coated plywood:
Coverage area = 40 -50 sq m. /liter.
Let us consider an average of 45 sq m. /liter.
Cost of release oil / sq m.
= [cost of oil/liter ÷ coverage area/liter]
= [ 120 ÷ 45]
= INR 2.67/- per sq m.
3. Untreated timber:
Coverage area = 20 -30 sq m. /liter.
Let us consider an average of 25 sq m. /liter.
Cost of release oil / sq m.
= [cost of oil/liter ÷ coverage area/liter]
= [ 120 ÷ 25]
= INR 4.8/- per sq m.
Consumption:
Let us consider an example-
Suppose we want to apply Sika release oil for 200 sq m. of steel formwork, 150 sq m. of plywood & 80 sq m. of timber surface. Calculate the quantity of oil required & total oil cost.
The total quantity of oil required in liters
= area of {(steel formwork ÷ coverage/lit) + (plywood ÷ coverage/lit.) + (timber÷ coverage/lit.)}
= { ( 200 ÷ 55) + ( 150 ÷ 45) + ( 80 ÷ 25)}
= { 3.636 + 3.33 + 3.2}
= 10.167 liters.
The total cost of oil
= [total quantity × cost/liter]
= [10.167 × 120/-]
= INR 1220/-
