How to estimate the material for the MS grill of a window? / Calculating the number of materials for MS window.

 Let us find out the material required for making 4 nos. MS window grills as shown below.

The type of material used to make this window grill is shown in the below-given drawing.

Given data:

MS grill length = 790mm.

MS grill width = 660mm.

No. of  MS grills to be made = 4nos.

The material used in the MS grill frame 👉  MS flat of 30 × 5mm. size.

The material used in MS grill mesh  👉    MS square bar of 12mm. size.

Holdfast is made of an MS square bar  👉  120mm in length.

 The crossbar of holdfast  👉    2nos., each of  50mm. length.

 

Calculation:

Now, let us calculate the required number of MS materials.

1. MS flat:

The total length of the MS flat for a single window

= [ (2nos. × window grill length ) + (2nos. × window grill width)]

= [ ( 2nos. × 790mm. ) + ( 2nos. × 660mm.)]

= [ 1580mm. + 1320mm.]

= 2900mm. 

= 2.90m.

2. MS square bar:

The length of the MS square bar for a window mesh

= [ ( no. of horizontal bars × window grill length ) + ( no. of vertical bars × window grill width )]

= [ ( 6nos. × 790mm. ) + ( 6nos. × 660mm.)]

= [ 4740mm. + 3960 mm. ]

= 8700mm.

= 8.7m.

3. MS holdfast:

The length of the MS square bar for window holdfast

= [ (holdfast length )+ (2nos. × crossbar length) ]

= [ 120mm. + ( 2nos. × 50mm.)]

= 220mm. 

= 0.22m.

As you know, the available standard length of  MS materials 👉 6m. 

Let us calculate the total no. of materials in table format.
