 Concrete weigh batchers are the machinery, used to weigh the raw materials and ingredients accurately while preparing the concrete mix of different grades.

They are broadly classified into the following three types based on their operational procedure.

They are,

1. Manual weigh batcher:

Manual weigh batcher.

In this type of weigh batcher, all the raw materials like sand, coarse aggregates, cement, etc have to be weighed manually by a person after loading them in the hopper. The weight can be taken cumulatively or individually for all the ingredients before feeding them in the concrete mixer. This type of weigh batchers are suitable for small construction sites.

2. Semi-automatic weigh batcher:

Semi-automatic weigh batcher.

In a semi-automatic weigh batcher, after adding the concrete raw materials to the hopper, you have to operate the gates to open them, and they get closed after the required quantity of material passes through the opening. This makes your work a lot easier as the skilled worker is not needed to check the weight of the material for every batching cycle. They are suitable for medium-scale construction sites.

3. Automatic weigh batcher:

Automatic weigh batcher.

Automatic weigh batchers are installed in the larger construction site where we have to do heavy concrete work with accuracy. Here, the weight of all the ingredients is taken automatically by the machine and closes the gate by itself when the pre-set weight requirement is fulfilled. This type of weighing batchers are more accurate, as there is no chance of manual error in the operation.

Based on their weighing system, concrete weigh batchers are classified into, 

1. Mechanical weigh batchers:

Mechanical weigh batcher.

Mechanical weigh batchers come with dial gauges and spring loads to weigh the materials. Here, you have to check and maintain the weighing gauge system for regular intervals, by correcting them to zero errors to achieve a larger accuracy.

2. Electronic weigh batchers:

Electronic weigh batcher.

They come with load cells at the bottom of the container, and a digital display system to read the weight of the ingredients. As they run on power, it becomes difficult to use them in remote construction areas having no electricity supply or regular power outages.

NOTE:  1. The concrete weigh batchers have wheels and hooks to move them(portable) from one location to another on the site.
