Now, we will go through the weight calculation procedure of hollow circular mild steel pipes per running meter, and also for one ft. length.
Hollow circular MS pipe. |
Let us consider the steel pipe of 1m. length with the inner diameter(I.D.) as 150mm and outer diameter (O.D.) as 168mm.
Now, the volume of the hollow pipe is given by the formula,
V = [π ×{ (D²- d²) /4} ×L ]
Where,
D = 168mm.(0.168m.), d=150mm.(0.15m.), & L=1m.
V = [3.142× {(0.168² - 0.15²) /4} ×1]
=[3.142×(0.005724/4)×1]
V = 0.00449 m³
Weight of the pipe
= [volume × density]
= [0.00449×7850]
= 35.29kg./meter
(Here, the density of mild steel is taken as 7850kg./m³.)
As you know, 1ft. = 3.28m.
Weight of the pipe/ft.
= [35.29/3.28 ]
= 10.76 kg/ft.
By changing the diameter of the pipe in the above-given formula, you can calculate the weight of MS pipes of any size.
