Calculating the capacity of the circular water tank./ How to calculate the water storage capacity of circular tank?

Now, let us consider a water tank of the diameter D= 5m. and height H = 3m. as shown in the image.

Circular water tank

Given data:

Diameter = D = 5m.

Height = H = 3m.

To calculate the capacity, first, we have to calculate the volume of the water tank.

The volume of the tank
           =[ π × ( D2/4 ) × H]

           = [3.142 × ( 52/4) × 3]

           = [3.142 × 6.25 × 3]

            = 58.91 CUM.

As you know,  1cubic meter = 1000 liters

 The capacity of the water tank in liters

         = [58.91CUM  ×  1000]

         = 58, 912 liters.

Now, converting it into gallons,

1 US gallon = 3.7854 liters.

The capacity of the water tank in gallons

            =  [58,912 liters  ÷ 3.7854]

            = 15,563 gallons.
