Let us now go through, the different types of windows which are used in the construction industry, based on the materials used.
1. Aluminum window:
Here, the window frames and sliding tracks were made of aluminum. They give structural strength to the window even with the thinner frames, so that you can build sliding windows with larger openings. They are anodized with oxides of different colors, which do not fade in the long run.

1. Aluminum window:
The sliding track can be of 2, 3., or 4 track systems depending upon the opening size and its application.
2. Wood/Timber window:

They can be milled with unlimited designs and shapes giving you a wide scope for a good selection. The price range largely depends upon the type of wood chosen, the design theme, and the final finishing. This is the traditional type of window, which you can see in all parts of the world.
3. Mild steel(MS) window:
They are made up of cement concrete as a frame material with the M.S. grills or bars fixed inside while casting.RCC louvered windows or grills are ideal for small godowns, pumphouses, or sheds, as they come in the economical price range with low maintenance.
3. Mild steel(MS) window:
They are fabricated using m.s. materials like angles, flats, bars, pipes, etc. This is also one of the most common types of windows and any local fabricator can do this job for you. After obtaining the size of the window opening, grills of different designs can be welded with the combination of the required type of MS materials.
Primer paint should be applied as a first coat to prevent it from rusting. Applying oil paint is the best way to give it longer shelf life.
4. RCC window:

5. Mesh window:

The mesh used can either be wire mesh or mosquito mesh. The main purpose of fixing such types of windows is to prevent insects and mosquitoes from entering the house. Preferably they are attached as a secondary window to the existing main window.
The outer frame is made up of different materials like mild steel, aluminum, wood, etc with the mesh as a core part of it.
6. F.R.P. window:
They are made up of different no. of tracks and frames as similar to aluminum windows. But F.R.P.(fiber-reinforced plastic) is used instead of aluminum, forming the outer structure.
They are cost-effective with less maintenance in comparison to aluminum windows.
7. PVC / UPVC window:
U.P.V.C. window |
Here, U.P.V.C. stands for unplasticized polyvinyl chloride. They are polymer plastics with complex bonding structures. They are rustproof, acid-proof, termite-proof, and come in a wide variety of colors. These properties make them rank, one step ahead of all other types of windows.
8. S.S. window:
Stainless steel window |
The stainless steel window is similar to M.S. windows in its manufacturing process. They are rustproof and aesthetic with their own metallic luster. But the price is on the higher side in comparison to M.S. windows.
